Classics Perfected: Old Fashioned, Amigos

A book published in 1862 by Jerry Thomas, 19th Century entrepreneur, owner of several New York City bars and known as the ‘father of American mixology’, contained the first gin-based Old Fashioned recipe. The Old Fashioned known today was created in Louisville, Kentucky, where Old Fashioned Fortnight is celebrated annually in honor of the beloved cocktail. This brown-spirited cocktail might look old-fashioned, but its taste is a revelation and a cultural mash-up – mixing Casamigos Reposado and Glenlivet 12 Year Old. A dash of simple syrup and Angostura bitters mixed to finish.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has revealed a refreshing new spin on its global line-up of masterfully balanced and delicious cocktails known as Classics Perfected : ‘The Decades’.

Created as an exciting new spin-off to the first Classics Perfected menu released in 2015, the revitalized menu pays homage to some of the most fascinating cocktails in history, and was designed by an elite team of award-winning mixologists known as the Fairmont Tastemakers.

In April 2019, the Tastemakers gathered at New York City’s The Dead Rabbit to ideate, collaborate and create the new cocktail collection, available to guests at Fairmont bars and lounges worldwide by Fall 2019.
